This is the "Once Upon a Time..." board. Life and all experiences are stories ready to be told at a later time. Life is all about the stories, the happy, the sad, the funny, the ridiculous... Once Upon a Time in the Backcountry... Once Upon a Time in the Terrain Park...Once Upon a Time at the Rail Jam.... Once Upon a Time on a Tree Run... This is a 4 colour reductive technique linocut that is part of a triptych. 

The image is of an old Remington typewriter when snail mail was the only option for getting the word out to others that weren't there to experience the story firsthand.

 

Dangling Carrot: Fame, Fortune and Happiness This piece is a dangling carrot because getting more time on the hill is often a dangling carrot, and for some riders so is fame and fortune. 

 This is a 12 colour/2 block reductive technique linocut on a diecut background that says "Fame, Fortune, Happiness"

Two new prints, there will be three when I am done. This is the beginning and the end. We all are the authors of our own story each day of our lives. The middle print is in the proofing process right now

The Legend of the Red Thread

I am currently working on an art book with a fellow artist. We are creating a book about "The Legend of the Red Thread".


"An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break."  - Ancient Chinese Proverb

The following images are of the back pages. The book builds up page by page to this heart that is printed with threads. I inked coarse thread to create the detailing around the printed hearts. 

 

Ophelia's Garland

This piece is inspired by Hamlet, in particular the garland of Ophelia.
It is a linocut.

Shakespeare Playbill - New Year's Day printing

I printed the Shakespeare 2013 season playbill on New Year's Day and January 2 with the help of my son who turned the press some 200 times.  The two photos here are of the prints drying and the stacks of prints. I am working with the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan festival. 23 of these prints will be for sale the remainder are for sponsors of the festival.

Macbeth and Comedy of Errors - Playbill

Today was the official launch of the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan 2013 season and my corresponding limited edition playbill (linocut) here it is.  Only a very  limited number of these will be for sale to the general public. The others will be given to sponsors of the festival as a gift.

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival

I will be creating a limited edition hand-pulled print for the festival to advertise their upcoming productions for the summer of 2013.
My students will be doing numerous projects for the festival including light post banners and photo cut out boards.

Looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind gift?  An original work of art created by well-known Saskatchewan artists, including Joe Fafard, Wilf Perrault, Cherie Westmoreland, Victor Cicansky and more!    

On November 30, twenty-four well-known Saskatchewan artists will donate their time and talent to create 36 original works of art to be auctioned in support of the 20th Annual Cards from the HeArt fundraising campaign.  Bidders from across the province will have the chance to get a unique gift for someone special or add to their art collection, while supporting Saskatchewan food banks.

Two separate auctions will be held throughout the day.

• Morning Auction  - 6:00 - 9:00 am

• Afternoon Auction -  3:00 - 6:30 pm.
